LEUKEMIA
It is a malignant progressive disease in which the bone marrow and
other blood-forming organs produce increased numbers of immature or abnormal
leucocytes. These suppress the production of normal blood cells, leading to
anemia and immunological symptoms. It has
a prevalence of about five per 100,000. acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is predominantly
seen in children while acute myeloblastic leukemia (AML) is predominant in adult
patients.
