QUINOLONES/FLUOROQUINOLONES

QUINOLONES AND FLUOROQUINOLONES ANTIBACTERIALS

These drugs interfere with DNA replication and transcription in bacteria by binding to bacterial DNA gyrase that’s needed in the final stages of DNA replication. This interference destructs cell processes leading to bacterial death.  These drugs are therefore considered bacteriosidal.
Used to treat genitourinary tract infection and limited to other severe cases where multidrug resistance is most like to occur.
